Keep your site's aesthetic consistent with one-click Global Styles
Site design should be seamless, which is why we obsess over creating a CMS experience that's intuitive and user-friendly. At RebelMouse, we believe that a site's look and feel should be part of the everyday workflow, and it should never distract developers or site contributors from their daily tasks.
This is why we've recently rolled out Global Styles in our Layout & Design tool. Users now have the ability to override styles by creating their own preferences in Global Settings that can then be applied to other pages en masse.
Users can create custom styles for any element, and then use those styles in other layouts by selecting them from a drop-down menu in one streamlined motion:
Previously, for example, if a user had 10 post elements in a row and wanted to change the font size of the headlines for all of them, they would have had to have changed each element individually. Now, developers can create Global Styles for Post elements so that the correct style is applied to every instance where the element is used.Any style updates needed on a site can also be made by simply updating the respective Global Style once. This makes design tweaks and changes much more efficient. This update also works on Google AMP pages.
Here's a quick guide on how to create a Global Style.
In Global Settings, first select Site Styles. Then click + Add Element in the Properties card and select Element Style to add a new Global Style setting.
From there, you can begin to configure your Global Style, including its Element Type and Style Name:
When you click Element Type, a drop-down menu will appear with a list of elements you can globally style:
For the Style Name, give your Global Style a name that reflects its universal use, like "Default Heading."
Here's how the process works in our Layout & Design tool:
And here's how it looks when a Global Style change is applied:
